Arkansa: Drugs, Insantity and the Death Penalty
Using drugs to make inmates sane enough for execution is understandable. For one thing prisoners could be faking illness to get off of getting the death penalty. From what I have read, most of the claims of insanity during murder trials sound like attempts to get off the hook. It is possible that inmates would try this same tactic during their time in prison to get out, or off the death list. If medicine is used to make people better than why would anyone try to deny a person that. The health of the inmate was made better by medicine, even if this was not the true purpose for the use of it.

I can certainly sympathize with giving inmates medicine for illnesses to ease their lives accordingly. However, I have a major issue with our government having the ability to drug an inmate on death row set for execution, for the mere fact that they need the inmate to be of sound mind before they MURDER him. Apparently, for someone in society to kill someone, it is illegal, but for the government to do it in retaliation to the murderer of someone, it sounds a bit hypocritical. All in all, I suppose it is a circle that will never stop.
